Pitkin County Solid Waste Maintenance Facility

The Pitkin County Solid Waste Maintenance Facility is a 17,459-sf full-service mechanics shop that houses the landfill’s equipment, crew workspace, and offices. There is also flexible space for the growing needs of Pitkin County’s Solid Waste Center fleet and maintenance operations. The building has a full overhead crane system, including a ten-ton top-running single guard bridge crane and a two-ton wall cantilever jib crane as well as a full-scale mechanics pit, lube/oil room, and a fully integrated compressor and pneumatic infrastructure for tools. Sustainable features include raceways and gear to support future solar infrastructure, onsite water reclamation, and construction debris storing and recycling. This project is LEED Platinum.
