Benedict Music Tent - Aspen Institute

The Benedict Music Tent is an award-winning, permanent festival and events facility that combines the acoustics of a first-rate concert hall and the luxurious ambiance of an immense outdoor enclosure. This project included the demolition of an existing 33,000-sf concrete and steel structure and the construction of a new space with seating for 2,050 people. The construction of the tent included 9.3 million pounds of concrete, 215,000 pounds of reinforcing steel, and 524,000 pounds of structural and architectural steel. To ensure concert hall acoustics within the confines of a tent, a tongue-and-groove wooden roof was installed over the center of the audience seating area, as well as 52 miles of sound, feeder, branch, and alarm wiring. This project was completed on a fast-track schedule and under budget.
