The Confluence Hall McConnell Science Museum is an 87,500-sf building home to CMU's mechanical, civil and computer engineering programs. Labs, study spaces and 22 classrooms allow students to collaborate in big groups or study in a quiet private area. The engineering building is filled with cutting-edge equipment and tools, including a 15-foot wind tunnel, hydraulic ironworker, and plasma table. The design incorporated LEED criteria, including the use of sustainable materials, optimization of energy-efficient mechanical and electrical systems, natural lighting, operable windows, minimization of water usage and superior standards for air quality. This project consolidated Confluence Hall and Eureka! McConnell Science Museum into one building.
